Forest Management Certification

Ingka Investments entities received the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certificate (FSC-C132653) for forest management. This proves that forest administration is made responsibly, while balancing out environment protection, the needs of the communities and the economic role of the forest.

What is the FSC certification?

The forest management certification is a voluntary process.
The certificate is granted following an audit carried out by independent experts. During the process, which also includes field visits, the auditors are checking the compliance with the 10 FSC principles for responsible forest management. The certificate is only awarded for a period of 5 years, and it also involves an annual monitoring in order to check compliance.

Forest certification process also requires open dialogue with the stakeholders important for the forests – local communities, authorities, economic agents and others. This means stakeholders can, at any moment, come up with recommendations and opinions regarding the way the company implements its forest management.
